This is the funky and weird page for the New Genre Classes at MCC
New Genre, New Media, post human, post material, post materiality, bits, bytes and all the inbetweens. Whatever you want to call it. New Genre is what we are calling this weird and fluid way of artmaking at MiraCosta College. It is an art practise that involves negotiation of that third space where one thing and another thing come together in some combination or another and a third, and new thing arrives; unannounced and late. it is familiar, you can look it up, but as soon as you try, pretenses that look like definitions do ok for fits,. ( this is when it “looks like art” ) It is an awkward fit. The vastness of meanings-here and there – are full of irreparable contingency mixed with time and the luggage you decided was yours to claim at carousel 2; Next terminal awaits-unclaimed bags from generations whose claim tickets were printed and lost before u borrowed your first breath. +
